ELECTRICITY CONSUMPTION BILL - AM I BEING OVERCHARGED?
3 STEPS TO HELP YOU FIND OUT
First step: You need to know how many units you normally consume per year. Residences normally average around 15 units a day or some 6000 units per year. Look at last years’ units to find out, or simply ask ARMS to tell you.
Next step: When you receive your bill, check page 2 to see what rates you are being charge at. These could be 10c5 or 12c9 or 16c1 or 34c2 or even 60c8.
Third step: Now you can check.
a. If you consume fewer than 2000 units all your electricity should be charged at 10c5 and you should get an eco-reduction. If rates are higher, you are being overcharged.
OR
b. If you consume between 2000-6000 units, you should be charged 2000 at 10c5 and the rest at 12c9. You may still be entitled to an eco-reduction depending on number of residents. If rates are higher, you are being overcharged.
OR
c. If you consume between 6000-10000 units, you should be charged 2000 at 10c5, 4000 at 12c9 and the rest at 16c1. You may still be entitled to an eco-reduction depending on number of residents. If rates are higher, you are being overcharged.
OR
d. If you consume between 10000-20000 units, you should be charged 2000 at 10c5, 4000 at 12c9 4000 at 16c1 and the rest at 34c5. If rates are higher, you are being overcharged.
OR
e. ONLY if you consume over 20000 units, should you be charged 2000 at 10c5, 4000 at 12c9 4000 at 16c1, 10000 at 34c5 and the rest at 60c +
